I am taking 5 on time to talk day because I refuse to live in a world of silence and stigma. Mental illnesses are horrific to live with, I refuse to be quiet about mine. We should talk about them to raise awareness and understanding. People who are unwell are not weird, crazy, attention seeking or lazy, they are ill. I am taking 5 to let people know that it’s okay to speak about feelings, it’s okay to struggle and to not be okay.
What can you do to take part in time to talk day?
-Send a text asking how someone is.
-Pop over and have a cup of tea with someone who might be struggling.
-Ask people how they are feeling.
-Talk about your experiences with mental illness.
-Let people know that you are there with a listening ear.
